Parisian Derelict : Editorial

On a rather hot day last week Liz, Crystal and I got together for what was supposed to be a classic style "Day In Paris" shoot. When we started shooting at the abandoned gas station location though, an entirely different story began to lay itself out.

Fabrics!

I love working with fabrics. I've done some fabric mapwork, as well as some patchwork in the past and I definitely have plans to do more. The biggest issue right now is the craziness that is our office / studio -- Jamie and I decided to completely revamp our space about three weeks ago and we're still sorting out everything. Truth be told, I have a lot of stuff. So, with plans in the works to possibly grab some wall shelves, I've got a new shiny red cabinet to house all of my art supplies and an Expedit bookshelf I'm using to colour code my books. (This is how I spend my Saturdays.) I'm also working on reupholstering / repainting two chairs -- one of which I bought for seven dollars at Value Village three years ago... uh, it's time.

So, I've bought some tough aqua fabric and I'm going to get my hands on some white spray paint (or pink, or yellow, haven't decided yet). The second chair is a comfy armchair that I'm going to reupholster in mustard yellow and IT'S GOING TO BE AWESOME! The woman at the fabric store looked at me aghast when I mentioned my colour theme, but rest assured, it will look lovely next to my sailboat and Jamie's wicked Darth Vader helmet. I have no idea what I'm doing, so it should be interesting.

Finishing up The Book Man bookmarks the other day, I ended up taking a number of new pictures with the possibility of adding them in. They didn't make the final cut, but they were so fun to take anyways! Look for the new bookmarks soon (their new store is now open in Abbotsford! Opening soon in Abbotsford!).

Happy Day After Canada Day! I hope you are all resting and relaxing. I slept in a tent last night which .... let's be honest, reminded me why I don't generally sleep in tents. I will now be spending the afternoon with a very disgruntled, much maligned cat, a cool glass of iced tea and a little bit of this movie or perhaps this movie.
